In a Private Member's Bill in 2022, Chadha sought a stiffer anti-defection law, one that would require a three-fourths majority, not two-thirds, to engineer a legitimate split.

This is not the first time that claims have surfaced about AAP MLAs being in touch with rival parties. Earlier, a senior Punjab Congress leader had claimed that at least 33 AAP MLAs were in contact with him.

AAP leader Sanjay Singh seeks disqualification of Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, and Ashok Mittal after seven Rajya Sabha MPs quit the party to join BJP, triggering a major political crisis.

This comes shortly after Raghav Chadha at a press conference said that two-thirds of the AAP MPs in Rajya Sabha will be merging with the BJP "exercise the provisions of the Constitution of India."

This would effectively reduce AAP's representation in the Rajya Sabha to three: Sanjay Singh, ND Gupta and Balbir Singh Seechewal.

While announcing his decision to quit the AAP, Chadha claimed that the party that had once stood for honesty had become ‘mired in corruption’.
